The Business Council of New York State is offering a free webinar for all businesses on New York State's Credit Card Surcharge Law: What You Need to Know

The New York State Business Council have made the c/c surcharge webinar available to the public on our website: Recorded Webinars | The Business Council (bcnys.org)

The webinar explains the new law and how businesses can comply. The new Consumer Protection Law was effective February 11, 2024 and amends and clarifies New York’s existing surcharge law. It provides greater transparency and protections for consumers and creates a more fair marketplace for businesses. To be compliant:

•           Businesses are required to post the following in a manner that’s simple and clear for consumers to read:

a.          The total price of an item or service inclusive of the credit card surcharge before checkout, OR

b.          A two-tiered pricing option that requires the credit card price to be posted alongside the cash price

•           Limits credit card surcharges to the amount charged to the business by the credit card company
